IMPULS Leasing Romania: From handwritten signing on paper to electronic signing

IMPULS Leasing Romania has transitioned from handwritten lease contracts to a digital signing workflow.

IMPULS Leasing Romania is a subsidiary of Raiffeisen-IMPULS-Leasing, an Austrian leasing group founded in 1983 and today operating across six countries.

In Romania, IMPULS Leasing is one of the most established players in the market, managing a portfolio of vehicle, equipment for private clients, corporate customers, and public sector organizations. Since partnering with Namirial, the company has started to transforme the paper-heavy contract signing process into a digital workflow.

Challenges and Drivers for Digital Signing in Leasing

Lease agreements involve multiple signatories: the customer, guarantors, back-office sales staff, and case operators.

IMPULS Leasing had used a digital signing provider since 2019. In 2022, the search for a better solution began in earnest.

Why Did IMPULS Leasing Need a Qualified Trust Services Provider?

Romanian law requires that for financial contracts, the signature must carry full legal equivalence with a handwritten signature. This means a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES), which under the eIDAS Regulation has the same legal effect across all EU member states. Achieving this requires the involvement of an accredited QTSP capable of issuing qualified certificates and supporting the identity verification processes needed to underpin them.

Beyond legal compliance, IMPULS Leasing needed document integrity guarantees – the assurance that a signed contract could not be altered without invalidating the signature.

Why Namirial?

When IMPULS Leasing first encountered Namirial, Impuls came across a fully integrated solution, an intuitive user experience, and a product clearly built with both customers and operations teams in mind.

A full real-time tracking, audit logs and certified timestamps, IMPULS Leasing could operate a contract process that is faster and better for customers than the handwritten contract signing option could offer.

In this video, Cristian Boaru, National Sales Director, talks about how the company reduced contract signing time from up to 72 hours to just minutes using Namirial’s eSignAnywhere platform with QES and video identification – scaling digital contract adoption from 40% at go-live in 2024 to an outstanding 95% by end of 2025.
