BlaBlaCar’s Challenge
A €100 bonus is given to drivers via the BlaBlaCar app after completing 3 trips within 3 months, and another €100 bonus via the Daily app, dedicated to short-distance trips, after 10 trips.
To grant these bonuses to drivers, the legislation requires two things: having the driver sign the bonus request through a single carpooling provider, and certifying that the trips were actually completed within the given timeframe.
The Solution Implemented
Namirial provided the turnkey solution meeting these two requirements:
- Electronic signature, which lets drivers sign the bonus request, committing to submit it only once through a carpooling provider like BlaBlaCar.
- Qualified timestamping, which proves the compliance of the drivers’ trips.
The Trigger for the Project
This carpooling bonus scheme was discussed in October 2022, and the decrees were published in December to take effect on January 1. BlaBlaCar had very little time — less than 3 months — to find and implement a compliant solution and offer this benefit to its users.
The company needed a ready-to-use solution that was simple to implement and could integrate optimally into its sites and apps, in order to offer the best possible experience to users.
Integrating the Solutions
BlaBlaCar integrated Namirial‘s solutions exclusively via API. To maximize conversion rates, the company wanted the entire signing journey to take place within the site or app, without requiring users to go through their email inbox.
They used web redirects and webviews within the apps, and observed an increase in conversion compared to email-based signing. Timestamps are generated automatically on the server side, completely transparent to users.
