The challenge: why are smart card readers needed?
The introduction of the new electronic identity cards in Romania in 2025 created the need to adopt technological solutions compatible with these new documents. Unlike previous generations of identity cards, the new IDs include an electronic chip that enables the secure storage and access of identification data, requiring specialized equipment for reading and validating the information.
