Namirial certified as a Remote Identity Verification Provider from the French National Agency for Information Systems Security and confirms its ambition in France

(MONTPEILLER / SENIGALLIA) – December 18, 2023 – Namirial Group, a global leader in digital trust software and services have announced that its Netheos remote identity solution has been certified at the “substantial” level for compliance with the framework for remote identity verification (Prestataires de vérification d’identité à distance, PVID) developed by the French National Agency for Information Systems Security (Agence nationale de la sécurité des systèmes d’information, ANSSI) on the level “substantial” . This certification recognises Namirial’s position in the French market for remote identity verification in general and digital onboarding in the financial services sector specifically.

France is the first European country to regulate remote identity verification through its Agency for the Security of Information Systems – ANSSI. Under the authority of the General Secretariat for Defence and National Security (Secrétariat général de la Défense et de la Sécurité national, SGDSN), which reports to the Prime Minister, ANSSI can implement a comprehensive cybersecurity policy for the defence of the most critical public and private digital infrastructures. It promotes France’s cybersecurity vision and contributes to European and international work to strengthen digital security and the stability of cyberspace. The PVID standard, introduced in 2021, is a response to the steady increase in online subscriptions and the growing number of identity fraud cases. Customer identification data (Know Your Customer, KYC) needs to be more reliable and in line with EU Directives 2015/849 and 2018/1673 on anti-money laundering and EU Regulation 910/2014 on electronic identification and trust services (eIDAS), as well as standards defined by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) such as TS 119 461, in order to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.

EU anti-money laundering directives are being transposed into the French Monetary and Financial Code. Article R561-5-2 recognises the importance of thoroughly verifying customer identities – and the French Financial Markets Authority (Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution, ACPR) is recommending banks and insurance companies operating in France and abroad to implement a PVID-certified solution

The PVID certification standard aims to secure the identities managed by online service providers, particularly those most at risk: banks, insurance companies, fintechs and trust services alone now account for more than half of all remote identity checks. It sets strict requirements for the technical, human and security resources needed to validate the authenticity of users’ biometric and documentary data by an operator. As part of the certification process, providers must demonstrate their ability to reliably verify identities remotely to the same level as in person.

Certified PVID vendors are recognised for their ability to effectively mitigate fraud and cybercrime and are awarded a security visa by ANSSI to provide substantial or high levels of assurance. Namirial’s Netheos ID Max solution has been certified at level “substantial”, which provides the same value as face-to-face verification. The certification is valid for a period of two years.

Thanks to this new certification, Namirial’s portfolio of digital trust services will benefit from an essential additional asset to ensure time-to-market in France. PVID deployments will also provide lessons learned on the potential replicability of this standard in other EU countries.

“With the explosion of online transactions, the advent of e-invoicing and the need to move towards qualified electronic signatures, Namirial has a complete and unique portfolio of digital trust services. As a PVID certified company, we have an essential additional asset to effectively meet the challenges of digital identity management in France. concludes Pierre Pontier, Managing Director of Namirial France.
