The upcoming EU Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR) and the revised eIDAS Regulation (eIDAS 2) fundamentally change how compliance and digital identity management are handled in the European financial ecosystem. At the heart of this change is the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet).

At the Business Circle Business Breakfast, experts from the fields of regulation, finance and standardization will discuss what banks, insurers and FinTechs need to prepare for today – and how the new regulations can be turned into a competitive advantage.

The event offers compact technical information and valuable networking opportunities to help participants master the upcoming digital identity revolution.

For the first time, users will be able to digitally carry out important regulated processes in the financial environment in a secure and user-friendly way with an app on their smartphone not only within Austria, but also across borders across all EU countries! These include:

  • User legitimation or identity verification (eKYC)
  • Providing evidence based on official government registers or data from private organizations (e.g., financial data)
  • Signature processes with the fulfilment of the written form with Qualified Electronic Signature (QES)
  • Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)

This is to be made possible by a newly emerging ecosystem around these EUDI wallets. As market participants, it is now essential for banks, insurers and FinTechs to understand as early as possible what role they want to play here. You can choose from the following roles entered in a public register:

  • Relying party to verify digital identities and evidence
  • Issuers of digital proofs to enable holders of EUDI wallets to provide proofs purely digitally, instead of on paper
  • Publisher of EUDI Wallet Apps to be directly present on users’ devices and to offer further added value via integrations

You can look forward to an exchange with experts from the practice of the financial industry, technical standardization and corresponding regulations to discuss the opportunities and risks surrounding EUDI wallets.
